The Meadows: Mountain Backdrop Ceremonies

The Meadows are our primary outdoor ceremony space for couples who want their wedding to feel expansive. Three Sisters Mountain rises behind you, and when your guests are seated in our light wooden garden chairs with white padded seats, that mountain dominates the view. We provide a custom wooden arbor facing the Adirondack mountains, positioned so the peaks are centered behind you.

Flowering pear and apple trees line the back of the Meadows, blooming in spring and shifting through summer greens into fall color. A May ceremony gives you blossoms and fresh growth, while a September ceremony delivers early foliage and warmer tones. 

The Secret Garden: Intimate Enclosed Ceremonies

The Secret Garden has a distinct atmosphere. Where the Meadows are expansive and mountain-focused, the Secret Garden is enclosed and detail-oriented. We have antique blue doors set within greenery and lush, blooming flowers, and the garden feels like a room without walls, defined by plantings rather than open sky.

The Secret Garden arbor with blue antique doors works for first looks, portraits, and grand ceremony entrance. Some couples do their first look here in the afternoon, then use it again as the entrance point for their reception. Others do their whole ceremony here, with chairs arranged around the blue doors as the focal point. 

The Garden Terrace: Covered Outdoor Option

The Garden Terrace is a covered walkway with hanging bistro lights and stamped concrete, connecting the White Willow Barn to the Hudson Barn. While it doesn’t have walls, the roof overhead protects you from rain, allowing you to remain surrounded by gardens and natural beauty.

Most couples use the Garden Terrace for the cocktail hour. Still, if you're watching a forecast that shows possible showers or want the feeling of being outdoors without full weather exposure, this becomes a workable ceremony option. Your guests still look out at the gardens and mountains, bathed in natural light and fresh air. 

Seasonal Changes and Their Impact on Your Ceremony

Garden weddings shift visually depending on when you book. Spring ceremonies from May into early June give you blooming trees in the Meadows and fresh growth in the Secret Garden. Summer ceremonies from late June through August offer the fullest garden growth and the longest daylight hours. Fall ceremonies from September through October give you foliage color and crisp light.

The Promise Gardens offers indoor backup options. Both the Hudson Barn and White Willow Barn can host ceremonies if needed. Your planner will monitor the forecast and coordinate the transition, typically 24 to 48 hours before the ceremony.

Can we use multiple outdoor spaces throughout our wedding day?

Yes, you have access to the entire property. Many couples use one space for their ceremony and others for portraits, the first look, or cocktail hour.
